About Allison

One of Allison’s passions is reaching people who are hurting. She longs to help others cling to hope in the deepest darkness and experience the relentless love and grace of God. She desires to "hold up the arms" of those who are weary, as she too has experienced the deep effects of suffering and the brokenness of this world, and knows its lingering effects. Writing is one avenue for reaching people.

Since 2014, Allison has battled chronic illness. Currently she is healing from chronic Lyme disease, many co-infections, mold toxicity, and autoimmune issues (read more of the story here!). Her health issues spurred the co-authoring of Hope and Help for Chronic Illness with Dr. Mark Shaw (whom she met while interning at Vision of Hope). Their booklet is intended to provide hope and encouragement to those who are struggling with chronic illness or who are walking through it with a friend, loved one, or counselee.

Allison loves coffee, flavorful food, photography, music, the ocean, vibrant fall leaves, and learning about people through personality typing. She graduated with a BA in Liberal Arts from Thomas Edison State University and a Certificate in Church Ministries through Southern Seminary, and has her MBTI certification. But her deepest, most impactful education has been through the last six years of God's "school of suffering", where everything she has clung to for hope, security, and comfort has been stripped away.

This opened her eyes to the suffering people around her and their desperate need for hope too. So she started this blog.

Each day, Allison continues to learn what it means to lean into the gospel, rest in God's sustaining grace, and breathe in hope. And she prays that you will find the same through Breathing Hope.

  1. Allison I love your blogs and articles!!! They’re so encouraging! I’ve suffered with severe ME/CFS for 28 years and want to start my own blog on Blogger, but need some help. Did you have someone help you design your blog? If so, would you mind sharing the name and contact info of that person with me? Thank you. :)

  2. I’m also reading the booklet you wrote with Mark Shaw and it’s wonderful too! I plan to recommend it to many of my sick friends.
