Why Breathing Hope?

As one who has not only suffered, but seen much suffering in the lives of others, I know the crucial importance of hope. Without it, we quickly lose heart and want to give up.

I've noticed as I've battled chronic illness, faced difficulties in my life and family, and watched the brokenness of the world around me, that it is incredibly hard to hold onto hope. This is why we must keep breathing hope.

The definition of breathe is:

"to be alive because of this."

"To live; exist."

"to pause and rest before continuing."

"to make manifest."

So when you think of that in terms of Breathing Hope, then it means to be alive because of hope, to exist because of hope, to pause and hope, to rest in hope, to manifest hope.

It's a continual, daily thing. Just as we can't live without breathing, we can't live without breathing hope. Because hope is what enables us to not lose heart (2 Cor. 4:16-18). True hope does not put us to shame (Rom. 5:5).

The believer's hope is not a wasted hope. It's not pointless or fragile. It's a living and eternal hope (1 Pet. 1:3). It is a hope founded in God alone (Ps. 71:5, Lam. 3:24).

This is the hope you and I need to breathe in.
